Killarney Town

The starting point for any trip to Killarney is obviously the town of Killarney. The town is bustling with life and there is no shortage of things to do around it. Be it the many shops, art galleries, cafes, restaurants, bars, cinema, or countless other spots to check out.


Market Cross is the center of the towns shopping district and a great starting point for your adventure around the town. It links Main Street, New Street and High Street which are where the majority of what you will need can be found. Nearby you can also find the Outlet Centre shopping mall which boasts a variety of shops as well. Across the town you will find well known stores such as Tk Maxx, Eason’s, Penney’s, Sports World and many amazing locally owned stores.


They say that New York is the city that never sleeps well Killarney is the town that never sleeps as the nightlife of the town is second to none as the sound of live music fills the streets from the many talented musicians playing in bars all over the town. Feel free to grab a coffee or a pint and just sit back and enjoy the show.

No matter where you find yourself in the town there will always be someone happy to point you in the right direction. Killarney Town is a great experience that is necessary upon any trip to Ireland and is the jumping off point on your exploration of the wider Killarney region and Ring of Kerry.


Nearby sights/walks 


Only a five minute walk from the centre of Killarney Town, the demesne is full of various walking paths such as a great one alongside the river Deenagh. There is a café to be found at the entrance that operates throughout the summer months,

Muckross House & Gardens  

An absolute marvel in the heart of Killarney National Park, found perfectly at the end of the Ring of Kerry, Muckross House and Gardens is  a 19th century Victorian Estate located on the banks of Muckross Lake. Take a tour of the house or explore the pristine gardens, this is one of the most breath taking attractions in all of County Kerry.

St. Mary’s Cathedral 

Check out one of the most jaw dropping cathedrals in all of Ireland and home to the tallest spire in Ireland. Built in the mid 19th century this wonderful piece of architecture can be seen from all areas of Killarney and is well worth visiting just to look at.
