Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is 312km from Killarney. There are flights to Dublin Airport from many international airports across the world. The airport has two terminals.

There are multiple ways to get to Killarney from Dublin Airport. 

First there are direct flights from Dublin to Kerry Airport from which you can then take a taxi or get the train from Farranfore down to Killarney.

Cork Airport

Cork Airport is 88km from Killarney. It is the second largest of Ireland’s three international airports. It is located 6.5 Km from Cork City.


There are flights to Cork Airport from a wide range of European Cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Zurich, and various locations across the UK.


Cork Airport is served daily by a scheduled bus and coach service that links the airport with Cork City.


Take the 266 bus from the terminal building to Parnell Place Bus Station. The 266 Bus also brings passengers to Kent Train Station. Buses from Parnell Bus Station and Kent Train Station go  to Killarney on a regular basis.

Shannon Airport

Shannon Airport is 135km from Killarney. It is the third largest of Ireland’s three international airports. It is located 26.6 Km from Limerick City.

There are flights to Shannon Airport from a wide range of European Cities such as Barcelona, Frankfurt, London, Tenerife, Warsaw, Wroclow, Palma, and Malaga.

There are also many transatlantic flights to Shannon Airport, from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Toronto.

Bus Éireann run the highest frequency of direct services to and from Shannon Airport. All services on the Galway/Limerick and Cork corridor pass through the airport, and in addition to this by simply changing at Limerick Bus Station you can take the Route 14 bus to Killarney.

From Dublin to Killarney

All trains in Ireland are run by Irish Rail.

If you wish to get the train from Dublin to Killarney, Ireland’s largest train station Heuston Station offers regular routes from Dublin to Killarney at regular intervals.

They are trains running from Dublin to Killarney, Monday to Saturday at the following times.

Monday to Saturday:

7am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5.05pm, 7pm

Sunday:

8:30am, 10:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 5:00pm, 7:05pm

Look out for the Dublin to Tralee Route, Killarney is the third last stop on this route. Beware sometimes you maybe be requested to change at Mallow Train Station for the train to Killarney.

From Cork to Killarney

If you wish to get the train from Cork to Killarney, Kent Train Station in Cork city offers regular routes from Cork City to Killarney at regular intervals.

They are trains running from Cork to Killarney, Monday to Sunday at the following times.

08:55am, 10:10am, 12:15pm, 12:25pm, 14:50pm, 16:25pm, 18:50pm, 20:45pm

Directions from Dublin Airport

At junction 9, on the M50, exit on to N7 South towards Limerick/Cork/ Waterford N8/N9.

Keep on the N7/M7 and after the toll past Portlaoise, keep right and continue on the N20 road to Limerick.

Exit onto the M20 towards Cork/Tralee, bringing you through to Adare, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Castleisland, and Farranfore.

As you approach Farranfore, you will pass Kerry Airport, approx 1km after, turn left on to N22 for approx 14km. From here use the directional signage to Killarney

Directions from Cork Airport

Follow signs for Kerry from Cork city.
Then take the N22 to Macroom and onto Ballyvourney and then into Killarney

Directions from Shannon Airport

83 miles/ 135km

1 hour 52 mins approximately

Take the N18 into Limerick from Shannon, and from Limerick follow signs for Cork/Tralee, which will bring you onto the N20 to Adare.

Exit onto the M20 towards Cork/Tralee, bringing you through to Adare, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Castleisland, and Farranfore.

As you approach Farranfore, you will pass Kerry Airport, approx 1km after, turn left on to N22 for approx 14km. From here use the directional signage to Killarney.
