Experience Sheep Dog Trials

The Kissane family have worked their 200-year-old sheep farm for generations. This is of little wonder, as the farm is located in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Standing proud between the townland of Kenmare and Killarney National Park, the panoramic views are simply breathtaking. It is a special area of conservation and the Kissane family’s main aim is to preserve the farm along with its flock of sheep and lambs. To secure the future of the farm, the Kissanes have opened their doors to visitors. During the spring and summer months visitors can witness the farm at work through sheep dog demonstrations and sheep shearing demonstrations. As it is a busy working farm be sure to check their online calendar, or contact the Kissanes directly to book your visit.

Sheep Dog Trails

The age-old friend of Ireland’s sheep farmers, the trusty sheep dog must be seen to be believed – gathering, driving, penning, singling, shedding and the ability of a dog to hold and control sheep with only the force of their fixed stare. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this farming method that has survived for centuries.

West Kerry Sheep Dog Demonstrations

Sheepdog demonstrations held on the beautiful Dingle peninsula in Ireland. Their farm is situated in Derrymore on the main Tralee – Dingle road on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is located in a beautiful setting nestled between the Slieve Mish mountains and the picturesque Tralee Bay. They run sheepdog demonstrations daily from March to October. Here you will have the opportunity to watch their pure bred border collies Sam and Jess herding sheep on the farm and their two miniature donkeys Alfie and Sooty.
