Destination Killarney - Golf

Killarney - Mahony's Point

Length: 6164 m / 6780 yards Par: 72 SSS: 72

The shortest of the three courses at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, Mahony's Point has spectacular views of Killarney's famous lakes and the McGillicuddy Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland. The final three holes are breathtaking as you play towards the lake with the 18th described as "one of the most memorable holes in Golf", a par three of nearly 200 yards that requires a huge carry across the corner of the lake. Discover for yourself why the 18th is the most photographed in the world. It is considered to be the most scenic and friendly of the three courses, it presents an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all standards, the combination of undulating greens, well positioned bunkers and water hazards ensure that there is enough danger to spoil a good round.

Killarney - Killeen

Length: 6566 m Par: 72 SSS: 73

Killeen is very much the flagship course at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.  Killarney's famed scenery provides an imposing backdrop to this Championship course. Re-opened in June 2006 the course is slightly longer with faster greens that have been brought closer to the water hazards around the course. It will challenge long hitters with accuracy being vital, as there is water on virtually every hole. Nick Faldo on winning The Irish Open in 1991 was one of only three players to finish under par. The challenging golf is matched by the spectacular views with the 10th being a firm favourite where you are playing virtually onto the lake.

Killarney - Lackabane

Length: 6410 m / 7050yds Par: 72 SSS: 72

Lackabane is the newest of the three courses at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club. This parkland course opened officially for play in 2000. Lakes and streams are a feature throughout the course, adding beauty and danger in equal measure. At 6410 metres off the very back tees the long game will be tested to the full, as competitors in the 2002 Ladies Irish Open and the European Ryder Cup Challenge Tour participants experienced in 2005. This course is suited to mid to low handicap golfers and is an excellent test of the long game.

Beaufort

Length: 6587yds Par: 71

This course presents magnificent views of the world famous MacGillycuddy Reeks from all points. The natural drainage of the site and the exceptionally mild climate of south west Ireland guarantees enjoyable golf throughout the year. Beaufort Golf Course is an 18 hole Championship Standard par 71. The Course measures 6587yds from the medal tees and 5310yds from the ladies tees.

The Ross

Length: 6514m Par: 72 9 hole course

Ross Golf Club is a nine-hole 3300 yard course including water and woodland features, and great lush greens. The clubhouse has uninterrupted 180 degree mountain, woodland lake and castle panorama, one of the great vistas of Irish Golf.

Gap of Dunloe

9 hole course with driving range

Dunloe Golf Course is set against the glaciated valley of the Gap of Dunloe, and it offers spectacular views of Killarney's lakes and mountains from every hole. If the visitor feels like practising before or after a game, the adjoining golf complex of 30 indoor and outdoor driving bays, a large 18 hole putting green, chipping, pitching and bunker practice areas, offers practice facilities second to none.

Ballybunion - Cashen

Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Senior and first opened in 1982 the Cashen Course is Ballybunion's magnificent new course, located among amazingly high sand dunes at the mouth of the river Cashen. The course flows with the land and uses the natural contours to full potential. Rated in the top 100 by Golf Magazine, the vast majority of Cashen's green positions have been copied by many new course designers. Spectacular and supremely challenging, what can never be copied is the majestic landscape and fresh sea air that is distinctly part of the Ballybunion experience.

Ballybunion - Old

Located on the Shannon Estuary, Ballybunion is a true seaside links course, virtually treeless with

sharp contours throughout. There appears to be no man made influence, it looks like a course mapped

out in the 10th century. There is a wild look to the place, the long grass covering the dunes that pitch and role throughout the course making it very intimidating. Yet the course is eminently fair. It is a course that will test your patience. It is not a course that favours one particular style of play over another, but one that simply rewards good play and good shots.

Ring of Kerry

Length: 6820yds Par: 72

Located amid the most stunning scenery imaginable. Overlooking beautiful and serene Kenmare Bay with the Kerry mountains providing a wonderful backdrop. The course itself has a challenging layout with dramatic elevation changes, plenty of very interesting holes and views that make it one Ireland's most scenic courses. Strictly speaking a parkland course it has a definite links feel, given its proximity to the bay and its sand based fairways and greens.

Skellig Bay

Ron Kirby has used the river as a dominant feature for the opening holes and then moved to the headlands for the finals holes. The site has over 8,000 metres of ancient walls, much of them in poor repair. As the design progressed some of the walls were removed but over 2,000metres were added to enhance the holes. The course at Skellig is Ron's only total design project here in Ireland.

Dooks

Length: 6500yds Par: 71

Dooks Golf Club was founded in 1889 and is one of the five oldest links courses in Ireland. The charm, atmosphere and superb seaside setting make Dooks a once in a lifetime experience. The course is nearly 6,600 yards from the back tees, but don't be over ambitious, the course from the white tees, which even though short by modern standards will test every club in the bag and that's on a calm day.

Tralee

Length: 6975yds Par: 72

Representing the first European design of Arnold Palmer, Tralee Golf Club is one of the most beautiful courses you will ever encounter. Having completed his masterpiece Palmer commented "I have never come across a piece so ideally suited for the building of a golf course. I am happy that we have one of the world's greatest links here."

Waterville

Golf at Waterville is a memorable experience - the beauty of classic links land, surrounded by the sea, and forever challenged and shaped by the elements. Over 100 years old, links golf combines sand dunes, gorse and native grasses, firm fairways, sod faced bunkers and subtle putting surfaces. Forget the lob wedge, think bump and run and creative shot making.
