Coolwood
Coolwood is a 50 acre complex, with a 10 acres Wildlife Park and 40 acres of Wildlife Sanctuary a children's playground and a coffee shop, the Park is ideally appointed for all the family. Cycling
A great way to see Killarney and its surrounding area is to cycle it. There are many family friendly cycle routes to choose from many of which are removed form the hustle and bustle of the main roads. Enjoy traffic free trails through Killarney National Park and explore the many beauty spots unreachable by car.
Kennedy's Pet Farm

Killarney Riding Stables

Muckross Traditional Farms
Muckross Traditional Farms are situated adjacent to Muckross House. At Muckross Traditional Farms you are invited to take a stroll down memory lane to visit Ireland in the 1030s and 1940s. This was a period before the widespread use of electricity, when all work was carried out using traditional methods. Visit three separate working farms (small , medium and large), each complete with animals, poultry and horse drawn farm machinery as well as a labourer's cottage, a carpenter's workshop, a harness maker and a blacksmith's forge. The interiors of the dwelling houses are furnished in the traditional manner, and include such items as the dresser, settlebed and mealbin.
Nature Trails
Booklet guides on these nature trails as well as many others in the region are available in Muckross House and National Park Information Offices.

The Old Boathouse Trail - This trail begins 300 metres from Muckross House and is well signposted. It is less than 1km long so allow approximately 45 minutes. The 19th Century stone boathouse is your starting point. Highlights include beautiful examples of oak, yew, arbutus (Killarney strawberry tree) and bog myrtle as well as panoramic views of the Middle Lake, Devil's Island, and Torc Mountain.

Arthur Young Nature Trail - This trail also begins and ends at Muchross House. It is 7.5kms long so allow approximately 2.5 hours. This trail journeys though the Muckross Peninsula between Lough Leane and Muckross Lake taking in some of the most extensive natural Yew Woods in Europe. Other highlights include examples of oak, fern, lichens, arbutus and holly. Keep an eye out for the old copper mines. Remember your camera and capture some amazing glimpses of the surrounding lakes and mountains.
Jaunting Car Trips
The traditional way to view Killarney's National Park is by Jaunting Car (horse drawn carriage), in the company of a local Jarvey (guide). These men and woman have an in depth knowledge of the history and folklore of the area and are eager to impart this knowledge. Tours include The Lakes, Ross Castle, Torc Waterfall and Muckross House & Gardens.
