Scrambling Skills Courses:
The intent of our Scrambling Skills Course is to give you the skills to safely climb the rockier peaks and routes and not put yourself at unnecessary risk. We focus on the most important elements of scrambling safety: route finding, hazard assessment and movement and basic rope skills on loose steep terrain and on snow and iced rock. The course focuses on developing the movement and technical skills required for tackling scrambling type ground such as found on the main Reeks Ridges such as Binn Chaorach Ridge and the Cummeenapeasta Ridge. To get the most out of this course you need to have extensive summer hill walking experience. Some experience of scrambling would be useful but is not essential. View further information here:

Howling Ridge is known as one of Ireland’s classic multi-pitch mountaineering routes. A steep, well defined ridge which cuts up the north-east face of Carrauntoohil. It is graded “V. Diff”
As this is a roped technical climb some previous Rock Climbing experience (indoor or outdoor) is a pre-requisite for this route but don’t worry, if you don’t already have this as we also run this as a 2-day course.
